Tuition
$9,500per year for transitional kindergarten through 8th grade, 2026-2027 school year. Billed monthly through FACTS.
The same rate applies to every grade from TK through 8th. Members of Reformation Lutheran Church support the school financially, which is part of why this figure sits well below most private schools in San Diego. Preschool rates are separate; call the office for current preschool rates and openings.
One-time fees
| Application fee | $50, paid at the office by cash or check when you apply. |
|---|---|
| Enrollment fee | $300 per student on acceptance, or $350 after June 5 for the coming school year. Non-refundable. It secures your child's place and helps pay for books, classroom materials, art, music, and athletics. |
Scholarships
Paying the year in full
4% off tuition when the full year is paid by the first day of school. The scholarship is 2% if payment is made by credit card.
More than one child enrolled
15% off for each additional student when a family enrolls more than one child in preschool through 8th grade. It applies to the lower tuition when rates differ.
Members of Reformation Lutheran Church
15% off tuition for students whose families are members of the congregation.
One per student
The multi-student and member scholarships aren't combined. A student receives one of them. Scholarships don't apply to Shepherd's Care.
Tuition assistance
Need-based tuition assistance is available by application to students in transitional kindergarten through 8th grade. The goal is to make a Reformation education possible for children regardless of a family's finances. Assistance applies to tuition only, not fees or Shepherd's Care. To ask about applying, contact the financial office at financial@refsd.org.
Shepherd's Care, before and after school
Shepherd's Care is open from 7:00 to 8:15 a.m. and from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. on school days for students in TK through 8th grade, at $7.25 per hour. Time is logged with an electronic parent sign-in and sign-out, and you're billed monthly for the hours you actually use. On some days when school isn't in session, Shepherd's Care opens at a daily rate announced in advance by email.
Hot lunch
Hot lunch is served on Mondays and Wednesdays when school is in session, run by parent volunteers. Each entrée comes with a small bag of chips and a fruit or vegetable. Prices are on the online order form, orders are billed through FACTS the following month, and it's open to every student from preschool through 8th grade.
How billing works
- Every family sets up an account with FACTS, where tuition and other charges are posted and paid online. Credit cards aren't accepted at the office; card payments are made through FACTS.
- Tuition payments are due on the fifteenth of each month.
- Military families can have tuition prorated for midyear enrollment or withdrawal, and new military students receive a reduced enrollment fee.
- Current families earn a $300 referral credit for each new family they refer who stays at least three months. How the referral program works.

Tuition questions
What does a year actually cost for one child?
Tuition of $9,500, plus the one-time $300 enrollment fee in the first year and the $50 application fee. Shepherd's Care and hot lunch are billed only if you use them. Uniforms and school supplies are bought by the family.
Is there a discount for a second child?
Yes. Each additional child enrolled receives 15% off tuition. A student can't receive both the multi-student and the member scholarship.
Can we pay monthly?
Yes. Tuition is billed in monthly installments through FACTS, due on the fifteenth. Families who prefer to pay the year in full by the first day of school receive 4% off.
Does tuition change if we enroll midyear?
Tuition is prorated for military families enrolling or withdrawing midyear. Other families enrolling partway through the year should ask the office; the answer depends on the start date.
