What a preschool day is built on
Preschool here is play, songs, stories, and the first Bible verses a child carries home, in a classroom where the teachers share the same faith and the same values as the families they serve. The goals for each child are simple and the teachers will tell you them in the same words: become comfortable going to school, learn about and share the love of Jesus, gain independence, and learn how to play with others.
- Year-round program for ages two and a half to five
- Christian teachers in small classrooms where every child is known
- Music, stories, outdoor play, and age-appropriate learning that leads naturally into transitional kindergarten
- Preschoolers join the school for drama performances and special days through the year
- Hot lunch available on Mondays and Wednesdays
- Older students who greet the preschoolers in the morning and hold the door
For military families
Reformation Lutheran Preschool participates in the Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood program (MCCYN), so fee assistance available to Department of Defense and U.S. Coast Guard families can be applied here. Learn about MCCYN eligibility, or ask us and we'll walk you through it. The school's broader support for military families, including the California Purple Star designation, is on the military families page.
From preschool to TK to 8th grade, without changing schools
A child can start in the preschool at two and a half and graduate from Reformation at the end of 8th grade without ever changing campuses. Preschool families move into transitional kindergarten with Mrs. Buth, who taught in this preschool herself, and then through four multi-grade classrooms where each teacher keeps a student for two or three years. About TK and kindergarten.
Rates, hours, and openings
Preschool rates, schedules, and current openings change through the year, so the fastest way to get them is to call the office at (858) 279-3311 or email school@refsd.org. Preschool families are eligible for the family referral program, and siblings enrolled across the preschool and school count toward the multi-student scholarship on school tuition.
Visiting the preschool. Tours of the preschool happen on school days with the children in the room. Pick a time and mention preschool in the notes, or call and we'll set it up.
