The people who will know your child by name

Four classroom teachers, a pastor, a Superintendent, and an office manager. At a school this size you'll know every one of them within a month, so here they are.

Administration

Sarah Rodrigues, Superintendent of Reformation Lutheran School

Sarah Rodrigues

Superintendent

Mrs. Rodrigues has been part of the Reformation team since 2016, with responsibility for school and church administration, financial services, and community outreach along the way. As Superintendent she keeps the lines open between families, staff, students, and school leadership, and she handles the administrative work so that teachers can teach. She has a background in higher education administration and in psychology and counseling, attended WELS schools in Southern California herself, and has had her own two children at Reformation since preschool. She gives every campus tour and is the school's contact for military families.

Jennifer Lowndes, Office Manager at Reformation Lutheran School

Jennifer Lowndes

Office Manager

Mrs. Lowndes runs the school office and is usually the first voice a family hears. She grew up in this congregation and taught in the Reformation preschool for eight years before moving to the office, so she knows the families, the schedule, and the building from both sides of the desk.

Classroom teachers

Brennan Buth, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten teacher

Brennan Buth

Transitional kindergarten and kindergarten

Mrs. Buth attended Reformation as a child and was often found in the preschool classroom helping the teachers and students. She studied child development at California State University, Sacramento, where she was also a Division I gymnast, and has taught here since 2016. What she enjoys most is sharing the love of Jesus with her students and helping them learn Bible passages they'll carry for life. Outside school she golfs, explores San Diego, and hunts for new places to eat.

Jenny Mangini, first and second grade teacher

Jenny Mangini

Grades 1 and 2

Mrs. Mangini was born in Portland, Maine, grew up in Northern California, and has taught first and second grade for more than ten years. She also teaches music, and her classroom runs on a Bluetooth speaker and a deep shelf of children's literature. She and her husband Kevin have three children who attend Reformation. Her favorite thing about teaching here is that almost everything students do is based on God's Word and modeled after the love of Christ.

Becky Horn, third through fifth grade teacher

Becky Horn

Grades 3, 4, and 5

Mrs. Horn brings fifteen years of experience with students in public and private schools, and after many years in public education she's thankful to teach where she can share her faith every day. Her goal for each student is growth socially, emotionally, academically, and most of all spiritually, and she loves watching that faith show up in action over the year. Away from school she's outdoors with her family, making music, or playing games. Classroom essentials: coffee, Flair pens, and sticky notes.

Michael Ross, sixth through eighth grade teacher

Michael Ross

Grades 6, 7, and 8

Mr. Ross grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin, trained at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, and has been in the teaching ministry for more than fifteen years. He serves as a mentor in the WELS New Teacher Induction Program. He teaches in a Christian school so that each student has a safe place to become who God made them to be, and so they know what God's Word says about life's challenges. Off campus he watches basketball, drives the remote backroads of San Diego County, and plays kickball on a team with his wife and friends.
