The enrollment process
Visit the campus and meet the Superintendent
Pick a tour time online or call the office. Mrs. Rodrigues will walk you through the four classrooms on a school day, answer your questions, and send you home with an information folder. If you're relocating and can't visit yet, we can do this part by phone or video.
Apply
If Reformation feels like the right fit, pay the $50 application fee at the office (cash or check) and complete the new student application online. Transferring students also sign a school records release form (PDF) so we can request records from the previous school.
Meet the teacher and the pastor
Your child meets their classroom teacher, who may do a short placement activity so the student starts at the right level in reading and math. You'll also meet Pastor Werner, and the Superintendent again if there's anything left to talk through.
Acceptance
Once the review is complete, we'll let you know. On acceptance, the $300 enrollment fee secures your child's place in the classroom ($350 after June 5 for the coming school year). The fee is non-refundable and goes toward books, classroom materials, art, music, and athletics.
Get set up
We'll create your FACTS account for monthly tuition billing, send the school handbook and the supply list for your child's room, and point you to the uniform dress code and the gently used uniform store. School information arrives by email each week from then on.

Who we admit
Reformation Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Families don't need to be members of Reformation Lutheran Church or of any Lutheran church. We do ask that every family support the school's Christian character and that every student take part in devotions, chapel, and religion class.
Midyear and transfer students
Students join us in the middle of the year more often than you'd think, especially military families arriving in San Diego on a service schedule rather than a school one. When there's space in the room, we enroll midyear, prorate tuition from the start date, and let the classroom teacher handle placement so the transition is about friends and routines rather than paperwork. Military families get a reduced enrollment fee and a dedicated contact; details are on the military families page.
What you'll need

Questions families ask before applying
Is there a deadline to apply?
No. Applications are accepted year-round and students are placed when space is available. For the coming school year, enrolling before June 5 keeps the enrollment fee at $300 rather than $350, and it helps the school plan staffing for your child's classroom.
Do you test children before admitting them?
The classroom teacher may do a short placement activity with your child so that reading and math instruction start at the right level. It's about placement within the room, not a gate.
Can we visit before we decide?
Please do. Tours happen on school days with students in the classrooms, and you're welcome to bring your child. Pick a time here.
What if we're still moving to San Diego?
Much of the process can be done remotely, including the first conversation and the application. Mrs. Rodrigues handles this regularly for relocating families and will tell you exactly what can wait until you arrive.
